Snail Dev 1 is a concept device in development, offered for preorder at $179.99 USD. The first production run is limited to 1,000 devices. One device is sold per checkout.

Full payment, including displayed shipping charges and applicable tax, is collected when you place the order. Shipping is scheduled for January 1, 2027. Delivery follows dispatch and depends on the destination.

The images are AI-generated concept renders. Final enclosure, battery, dimensions and software remain in development. Board specifications describe the selected Waveshare development board.

Cancel for a full refund, including prepaid shipping, any time before shipment by emailing joey@snailos.org. If shipping is delayed, we will ask you to approve the revised date or receive a full refund.

Snail OS is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. That includes any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

It is replacement firmware for hardware neither made nor supported by us. It may contain faults, it may stop working after a change to a service it talks to, and it is not sold as fit for any purpose you have in mind.

Installing replacement firmware carries risk, including the risk of leaving a device unusable. The installer saves a full flash backup, installs a two-bank Snail layout, and verifies the bytes it writes. Factory recovery requires that backup and a cable procedure. None of that is a guarantee.

You install it on hardware you own, at your own risk, and you accept that risk when you do.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from Snail OS is limited to what you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost data, or for damage to a device.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as that jurisdiction permits.

Connecting an account grants the permissions listed on its approval screen through connect.snailos.org. Some features read account data; messaging features send only the replies or messages you request. Grants are revocable from Snail Connect and from the service that issued them.

Those services are run by other people. If one changes, withdraws or breaks its interface, the feature that used it stops working, and that is not a defect in what you bought.

The Android app is free and links your phone to your device over Bluetooth. What it reads on the phone is governed by the permissions you grant, and each is off until you switch it on. The privacy page lists them.

Messages and replies the device sends through the app are sent from your phone, by you. We do not see them and are not responsible for their content or delivery.

The app is provided as is, under the same warranty and liability terms as the firmware.

New Snail Connect subscriptions cost $4.99 a month, billed by Stripe through connect.snailos.org, and cover Snail Messages, Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, Sync and TailTerm. Manage or cancel at connect.snailos.org/devices; service ends at the close of the paid month.

One person, every device you own. The download key is yours; please do not redistribute the files.

The source is not published. Buying a copy does not grant a right to redistribute, resell or republish it.

If Snail OS will not run on your device, write to joey@snailos.org and you get your money back.

Hardware is refundable in full until it ships.

Hardware ships to the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, India and Indonesia by tracked USPS. Postage is shown before checkout and charged with the order.

Outside the United States, import tax and any duty are collected by the carrier on delivery. A parcel refused at the border is refunded less postage once it returns.
